Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
