Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
