Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors anywhere in the world. While participating in net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker.
