Poker has become globally acclaimed as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, stretches back quite a bit farther than its television scores. Over the years many types on the original poker game have been created, including a few games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to chemin de fer than long-standing poker, in that the gamblers bet against the bank instead of the other players. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different kinds of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up before the croupier saying "No further bets." At that instance, both you and the bank and of course all of the other gamblers attain five cards. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s first card, you need to either make a call bet or bow out. The call wager’s value is equal to your original ante, indicating that the stakes will have increased two fold. Giving Up means that your bet goes instantaneously to the house. After the wager comes the face off. If the bank doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your bet is returned, plus an amount on par with the ante. If the dealer does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand is greater than the casino’s hand. The casino pony’s up cash even with your ante and fixed expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • fifty to one for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
