Online poker has become world celebrated as of late, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back in reality a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years several variants on the original poker game have been developed, including some games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to vingt-et-un than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the house instead of each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little concealment or other types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up just before the croupier announcing "No more wagers." At that moment, both you and the dealer and of course every one of the other gamblers attain 5 cards each. Once you have looked at your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you have to either make a call bet or accede. The call bet’s value is akin to your original bet, meaning that the stakes will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your ante goes instantaneously to the house. After the bet comes the conclusion. If the bank does not have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, including a sum equal to the ante. If the house does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the bank’s hand. The casino pays out money equal to your bet and set odds on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
