Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve closing table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While participating in online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
