Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
