Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve final game in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of.
