Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
